As Kelly would say, it's summertime & the livin's easy. ::Hi Kelly:: I am on my summer vacation this week. Granted I am still in shock and sadness that my summer vacation went from three glorious months to one speed racer week but I have stopped crying into my pillow about it. This week has been a fantastic Chicago July week with full sun, blue skies, peanut-butter chocolate ice cream, and a city bustle that I can calmly observe from my driver's seat. (Really? Rat tails are coming back into style? Since when?) At night, a lightning storm kept me company as I worked on my book. This didn't help the fact that I had already creeped myself out due to the fact that my book has ghost stories in it and they scared the very author that created them. I had to race into bed in fear of meeting some willowy, partially transparent figure in the hallway.

I have started almost every morning this week with gardening & making blueberry pancakes for friends that are able to stop over for breakfast and feast with me on my back porch. I am reading Water for Elephants which is amazing and something I wish I would have thought of before Sara Gruen. Running by the lakeside in the city with a dear friend followed by an ice cream cone, launching myself into a neighborhood sprinkler, dreams of launching myself into a fire truck sprinkler but settling for less, a trip to the emergency room & a convenient chest x-ray to follow, grilling brats with applesauce on the side + three Radiohead discussions = a delicious half way mark to a loverly summer rest.

Good things:
