My mom loves televisions. I have come to believe that they are collector items more than anything else. Sure she loves her Law & Order like the rest of America but when she and I moved into the love-of-my-life house on Eagle Street ::sigh:: she became freakishly obsessed with the stock market. A television set was placed in each corner of the house so we could be in view of the CNN stock ticker at any point in time. This meant televisions were found in all bedrooms, the kitchen, dining room, bathroom, and yes, even the garage. Ben and I are still convinced that her most recent move across the block was in response to her recent obsession with big digital flat screen television. In her other house there wasn't a good spot for a 42 inch but when she saw the living room of the house she lives in now... that was it. Nowadays, every time I visit, I always am asked if I need another television. "But Jenny, how do you live with only one tv?" she asks every time.

So is it a suprise that I have never really been one for television? My tv intellegence is below 70. Shows I have loved range from Dr Katz: Professional Therapist to Malcom in the Middle to Gilmore Girls. But lately, my alltime favorite is Scrubs and although it is a comedy, I find myself reacting emotionally to the plot 70% of the time. And somehow, Scrubs always seems to escalate at the very end with a song that I recognize and then completely identify with in that moment as demonstrated by "The Best Man" episode with Murder of One by Counting Crows. Oh Scrubs, if only you could define my life.
