Minutes away from the New Year and I am sitting at the edge of Ian & Rachel's bed watching snow accumulate on Milwaukee Avenue. Outside the bedroom door is my favorite guilty pleasure radio tune playing on Guitar Hero and Ben and Ian are jumping around with little guitars. A group of us just completed a few rounds of Scattegories and speed Scrabble. I am now on the phone with Michelle who is in Naperville with her daughter Lil G. Michelle sounds vibrant and happy as we chatter away the last few moments of 2007. Rachel starts rounding everyone up for the final moments before the ball drops. She is passing out sparkling cider and colorful horns. "I love you, Jenny," Michelle says sweetly before we depart. My heavy heart is lifted and it feels so good to hear a free willed I love you. A perfect moment to end 2007. "I love you too," I tell her before heading back into a cozy room with twinkling lights, friends, and bubbled over juice.

Originally I was going to compete in my own little triathalon this morning to celebrate the new year. And then it snowed. So I was one of only a handful of people who got up early just to romp in the fresh fallen snow. Standing alone at the edge of Light House Beach and bundled in nothing more than my Northwestern hooded sweat shirt, running pants, and scarf, I promised myself that best laid plans can be broken if there is a passionate adventure that leads me astray. So this is my ridiculous, red nosed self portrait of adventure for 2008.

The End and Beginning of 2007/2008

Kind of fell in love (or continuing to be in love) with the following:
What Can I Say- Bradi Carlile
Useless Desire- Patty Griffin (who will be in Milwaukee 1/19. anyone interested?)
Here in my Head- Tori Amos (For old time sake. A learned coping strategy. Here in my head I found you there and running around and following me but you dont, oh, dare now. But hey, do you know what this is doing to me? )
