There are few things in life I am certain about. I am certain I will never warm up to the movie Moulin Rouge (sorry Candace) nor Tom Cruise (don't get me started). I am certain I will always prefer post cards to junkmail. I am certain that my populist coifed friend John will never be a republican (or at least admit to being one). I am also rather certain that you will never find me living in Florida. No offense, Florida. Most likely I will never move southward beyond Kentucky because I need the winter. I love the snow. And if it is late at night and no one is around, I love fishtailing in the Dodge Ram around corners.

Chicago has an abundant amount of snow tonight and I only want more. Nevermind that Ben and I don't even own a shovel to clear the much traveled sidewalk outside. I want so much snow that I have to wear snow pants out to my car to avoid getting wet. I love the way snow gives me an excuse to stomp when entering a building- I mean literally stomp and jump with a heavy landing. I also love feeling colorful, cozy, & swaddled in boots and mittens. I love winter so much right now. Check back with me in April and I will have changed my tune but it is Edward Scissorhands/ Smillas Sense of Snow/ Chronicles of Narnia beautiful outside tonight. Snow sets the perfect atmosphere everytime. (Except in the eyes of Elizabeth who in 2003 stated that snow can be "way over dramatic" to which I believe I then hit her with a snowball).

I want to do all the winter sports possible with snow loving friends. Wassailing on Friday night with the Foleys at Millenium Park. Ashley will be old enough to buy herself a toasty drink afterward and Kelly is looking to find magic in the moment.
"I just want to have an Elf moment- you know the part in the movie at the very end when the singing and the Christmas spirit is enough to move Santa's sleigh. That's what I want Friday night," she said Sunday morning. Rock on. I'll be wearing boots.
